Atlanta was chosen as the location for ITS World Congress 2025 because it is renowned as a world hub of transportation, showcasing some of the most cutting-edge technology within the Atlanta metro region and throughout the state of Georgia. From the Hartsfield-Jackson International, the world’s busiest airport, seeing about 286,000 passengers per day, the city investing more than $168 billion in transportation funding into creating safer roads and highways, expanding public transportation access and new projects to support active mobility for pedestrians and biking accessibility, there is much to learn from the host city.

In addition to the city of Atlanta itself, the Georgia Department of Transportation is a leader in advancing safety and sustainability in transportation.  Georgia DOT has deployed the largest network of V2X technologies in the U.S., covering 1,200 signalized intersections and is expanding investments across their interstate system. The city of Peachtree Corners, GA is a living laboratory to test emerging technologies through their Curiosity Lab, a 500-acre technology park with a three-mile roadway showcasing autonomous vehicles, 5G cellular vehicle-to-everything technology, smart streetlights and signals, among other technologies.

“We are looking forward to convening in Atlanta next August and showcasing a region leading in deploying technology to proactively address how we can deliver safer, greener, smarter mobility for all. Attendees will be able to experience numerous tours and demos that will show the best our industry has to offer,” said Jaime McAuley, ITS America Events event director at RX.

Also welcoming ITS leaders to the Atlanta 2025 World Congress will be the Georgia Department of Transportation: “On behalf of the Georgia Department of Transportation, we are excited to welcome ITS World Congress to Atlanta in 2025,” said Russell R. McMurry, P.E., Commissioner of the Georgia DOT. “We are proud of our work to reduce our carbon footprint and provide more sustainable transportation solutions. We are eager to welcome all the guests who will be attending the World Congress from countries from across the globe. It will allow us to showcase the innovation happening in Georgia while studying new advancements and technologies that can complement our continuous efforts to provide safe, sustainable transportation for all Georgians.”
