Momentum Issue #158 – ITS America Leadership in the New Year
With the new year comes a renewed commitment to our members and the ITS community. In the last few months of 2024, ITS America prepared for 2025 by solidifying strong leadership and consulting members about how we can continue to focus our efforts best. Our goal is to ensure that the voices of all our members are heard as we continue to collaborate for a safer, greener, smarter future for all.
A significant amount of the work we do is supported by our members through their participation on our committees, working groups, and communities of practice.
In November 2024, we sent two surveys to our members. The first was to provide insight and interest in participating in ITSA Committees and communities of practice, the value of ITS America communications and deliverables, and priority issue areas and technology that will be important for them in 2025. The second survey was conducted during individual committee meetings to determine important issue areas of interest.
Results from these surveys confirmed that our members believe we are on the right path for 2025. We also derived valuable feedback about our committees/COPs, with which we made some updates, highlighted in the list below.
2025 Committees/COPs updates:
- Combining the Workforce Development & Equity COPs into one
- Adding a focus on data governance, data management, quantum computing, AI procurement, and AI applications to be addressed by the AI & Digital Infrastructure Working Group
- Refocus the AAM Working Group on UAM/AAM – specifically drones, other emerging technologies for natural disaster relief and prevention efforts
- New collaboration across committees on issues of privacy, cybersecurity, interoperability, and workforce
- Deliverables in the form of white papers and policy briefs, deployment plans where applicable – our members indicated they find these more valuable than, for example, panel briefs
We have also finalized our 2025 Committee Leadership. Congratulations to the following leaders who will lead our Committees, Working Groups, and Communities of Practice in 2025!
