ITS World Congress 2022 Website Launches

Back in the U.S. – ‘Transformation by Transportation’ Unveiled as Theme of 2022 ITS World Congress

Last year, ITS America and our partner Reed Exhibitions announced the ITS 2022 World Congress (ITSWC) would be held in Los Angeles, bringing it back to the United States for the first time since 2014. Last week, we revealed the theme as the website for this global event went live!

We are excited about gathering in Los Angeles, particularly given that so much of our work has been virtual for more than a year now. As a city, Los Angeles is transforming into a leader for progressive technology and advanced infrastructure making sure that the new transportation innovations are available to all, accommodating a diverse group of travelers – we think it’s the embodiment of the theme Transformation by Transportation.

A few fun transportation facts about the Los Angeles metro area:

  • The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach are the two largest in the nation and combined are the tenth largest in the world;
  • Los Angeles has the largest electric vehicle car share program in the United States and recently launched the largest dockless scooter and bike share program in the world;
  • Neighboring Santa Monica is home to the country’s first zero-emission delivery zone; and much more!

Kicking off September 18 and running through the 22nd, the ITSWC will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center. As usual, the exhibition floor will be one of the highlights – if your organization is interested in exhibiting at and/or sponsoring this signature gathering of ITS stakeholders from around the world, please contact Adam Balsam, sales director, ITS America events, abalsam@reedexpo.com.

We will have an innovation challenge for start-ups, an emerging leaders program for students, and an Emergency Responders Day – details on these as well as program content will be announced later this year into early next year. Before the ITSWC, though, is the 2021 Annual Meeting in Charlotte, December 7-10. The annual awards program will open in July, and registration and housing will open this summer.

Los Angeles is leading the way in changing how people get around, how goods are delivered and how data is optimized for public benefit.  We hope you can join as we gather to experience how technology is being deployed to transform transportation – using AI to more efficiently operate systems, deploying personal delivery devices to assess infrastructure, creating the nation’s first zero emission delivery zone, and so much more to ensure a safer, green, smarter, and more equitable future.
