High-Level Policy RoundtableThis has always been a much-anticipated event at the annual ITS World Congress. This year’s roundtable will focus on equitable sustainability and building a resilient, socially just future through sustainable climate technologies. How can infrastructure investment advance our global climate goals, grow job access, and promote a more equitable future? The roundtable will convene public and private sector leaders including ministers, mayors, other officials, and industry executives. This event is invitation only.

Emerging Leaders Program: The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) strives to discover the “new age” of the transportation workforce by engaging students and developing young professionals globally to become involved in the field of mobility and transportation through competition and exposure. It is designed for college and university students of various disciplines who hold an interest in mobility and technology. The registered teams were asked to identify a challenge faced by under-served communities and design a technology solution that provides needed mobility access. Winners will be showcased in conjunction with the ITS World Congress. In addition, the ELP will bring students from Los Angeles area schools to the event to participate in educational programming, interactive activities, exhibit tours, and demonstrations.

Global ITS Innovation Competition –Coming this Month! The 2022 Global ITS Innovation Competition connects innovators, government, start-up funders, talent, and others in the innovation technology markets to find new ways to use automation, connectivity, sustainable technology, and other technology solutions to advance safer, greener, and smarter transportation. It presents an opportunity for start-ups to engage funders, private companies, government, and other leaders to create bold, new solutions to the challenge of how we will live and move in the future. We will announce a North American winner and a global winner at the ITSWC. Look for participation details this month!

Emergency Response Day: On a crucial mission to increase the personal safety of responders and motorists while restoring mobility for emergency, commercial and personal traffic, Emergency Response Day (Tuesday, September 20th) will focus on emerging technology-based problems and solutions responders will face in evolving Smart City infrastructure environments.

Exhibits and Demonstrations
There is still time to secure exhibit space! Join more than 100 exhibitors, including OEMs, technology companies, public agencies, and many others. It is a great way to gain exposure to leaders, influencers, and experts. Please contact Vivienne Reynolds vivienne.reynolds@rxglobal.com if your organization is interested in joining us on the show floor. It’s also not too late to submit a demonstration – the call for demonstrations closes April 21!The ITS World Congress is where the smart mobility community comes together to explore the deployment of intelligent transportation technologies that save lives, improve mobility, promote sustainability, and provide access to opportunity.

In a city known for cars and congestion, Los Angeles is transforming with investments in transit, digital infrastructure, and a focus on equitable mobility. In terms of opportunity, LA has it all:

  • 28 by ’28, the nation’s single largest transportation infrastructure initiative – a series of transportation improvements to be completed by the 2028 Summer Olympics, which include a number of ITS specific deployments;
  • largest electric vehicle car share program in the country and the largest dockless scooter and bike-share program in the world; and
  • Micro Metro, the new on-demand rideshare program bringing access to eight zones; and
  • The ports of LA and Long Beach, which together import 40% of goods that arrive in the United States.

Registration opens later this month, but the room block is open now. We can’t wait to see you in Los Angeles! If you have questions about the event, please contact Rachel Rettberg rrettberg@itsa.org.
