Reverse Pitch Evaluation Criteria

The following criteria will be used to evaluate initial reverse pitches submitted, reverse pitches included in the live pitch event, and those pitches selected to pilot:

Ability to address roads safety challenges

Pitches must respond to the unique safety challenges on the M Street pilot area and should not be general or boilerplate business development pitches.
Pitches must describe how the technologies proposed address at least one of road safety challenges.
Technologies that address more than one safety challenge are preferred. If the technology proposed addresses more than one challenge, the pitch must clearly explain how the technology proposed addresses each challenge.Pitches must also identify the issue areas in the DC 2026-2030 Integrated Strategic Highway Safety Plan and Vision Zero Plan that will be addressed.
Pitches should be framed through the lens of the Safe System Approach.

Anticipated road safety improvement

Pitches should outline, to the best of your ability, anticipated road safety improvement based on past use of technologies proposed.
Technologies pitched must improve road safety and should not just provide additional road safety analytics.

Proven technical capabilities

Pitches must clearly outline the technology and how it will be installed with existing transportation infrastructure
Pitches should include proof of technology being used for road safety previously.
Creative technology solutions and partnerships are encouraged to ensure technologies proposed fully address safety challenges or provide a system approach to road safety.
If you already have technology deployed in the M Street pilot area that can be used to road safety challenges identified in this call, please clearly indicate your existing technology installed in the pilot area.

Cost

Pitches must include a detailed project that provides cost structure for labor, installation, and technology costs. Donated or loaned items and their values that exceed the budget amount must also be clearly listed as in-kind contributions.

While technology disrupts the transportation ecosystem with new innovations and ideas, government, communities, private companies, and researchers must race to catch up to and contend with ideas never thought possible.
