ITS America and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), penned this letter in anticipation of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation Subcommittee on Surface Transportation, Maritime, Freight, and Ports hearing entitled “Driving Innovation: the Future of Automotive Mobility, Safety, and Technology,” to highlight the importance of the 5.9 GHz Safety Spectrum to transportation safety and express their significant concern with efforts underway at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to reallocate spectrum in the 5.9 GHz band.
