OVERVIEW OF THE V2X DAY ONE DEPLOYMENT DISTRICT

This year, at the 2025 ITS World Congress experience a one-of-a-kind demonstration, one that does not come and go but stays forever in the heart of Atlanta. Leveraging the CV2X infrastructure investments of Georgia DOT on the streets of Atlanta, the V2X Day One Deployment District features a one mile area showcasing “Day One” V2X applications and benefits. This one mile area is centered on the World Congress site and includes Mercedes-Benz Stadium and much of the downtown Atlanta core. The Deployment District features functional signal prioritization and other applications connecting to aftermarket safety devices installed in Atlanta emergency vehicles, transit buses, school buses and technical tour shuttles for the conference.

DEPLOYMENT DISTRICT FEATURES:

Production Environment

  • Networked Traffic Signals and C-V2X Roadside Units
  • RSU Broadcast/Reception

Sandbox Environment with Historical Data

  • High Resolution Traffic Signal Data, CCTV Video Streams, CV Data

DAY ONE DEPLOYMENT DISTRICT VISION

The vision of the Day One Deployment District is to showcase the readiness of V2X technology today through deployable, scalable applications that leverage existing infrastructure and data that improve safety and mobility.

What does that mean?

  • It means that any successful solution is intended to leverage the existing (permanent) infrastructure and should further be things that on September 1, 2025, GDOT/Atlanta/Georgia could buy/implement and continue to use.

What are some examples of potentially desirable solutions?

  • Solutions should leverage real-time C-V2X broadcast and received data (SPAT, MAP, BSM, etc – all the technical specs  listed in the forms) or some kind of derivative of available intersection data.
  • Some examples of real-time applications are signal priority, vehicle/bicycle/pedestrian safety applications that utilize infrastructure data, or information and alert broadcasts to all road users (including VRUs).
  • Some examples of using some of the historical data could include route optimization, safety categorization, signal optimization, or other planning type applications that leverage these datasets.

How will submissions be evaluated?

  • Submissions will be evaluated based upon the robustness of the solution, the integration with the GDOT environment and ultimately the outcomes they would deliver.
  • Additionally, solutions that fare better in a testing environment, such as OmniAir plugfest, or have more of a market maturity to them may be favored
