Call for Contributions for ITS America’s 2021 Annual Meeting in Charlotte Opens Today!

Super Bowl kick off isn’t until this weekend, but today, ITS America kicks off ‘contributions season’! We are now accepting papers and session proposals for the 2021 ITS America Annual Meeting, which will be held December 7-10 in Charlotte, NC. We are looking for high-quality papers and session proposals for the Annual Meeting’s technical program to narrate our theme, “Reimagining Transportation.”

COVID-19 has fundamentally changed our nation’s transportation system, from personal mobility to delivery of goods. As we emerge from this pandemic, what does transportation look like in the United States? We have an opportunity now to help shape a safer, greener, and smarter future by making smart investments that can have a positive impact on mobility, commuting patterns, supply chain and delivery of goods. In Charlotte, we will reimagine transportation and discuss how technology is a fundamental piece of a new 21st century transportation system.

Papers and session proposals should be related to one of the six subtopics that fall under Safer, Greener and Smarter:

  • SAFER

Intelligent, Connected and Automated Vehicles

The Path to Vision Zero

  • GREENER

Sustainability and Resiliency

Pandemic Impact on Transportation & Mobility

  • SMARTER

Mobility on Demand/MaaS

Data Sharing and Secure Networks

Emerging Technologies

For papers: If you or someone in your organization has recently conducted research on ITS related to one of the above topics, we hope you will submit your findings. Papers must be original and report on recent, significant and substantive achievements. They will be reviewed by a peer panel that will consider quality, topic relevance, and significance of the findings. Final acceptance will be based on the panel reviews and limited by the number of papers that can be accommodated in the program. Authors (or a designee) of accepted papers will present findings in a session titled and organized by ITS America’s events team.

For session proposals: Have a great idea for a session that fits into the theme? We want to hear from thought leaders who have identified a critical session topic that will advance conference themes and ITS development and deployment. Proposals will be evaluated based on how they fit into designated session topics, and submitters must be prepared to organize the session. Due to limited session times, not all sessions will be accepted.

You can find all the submission details here. The submission deadline is April 12 – it will not be extended!

As members, you know the annual meeting is a major forum for academic and scientific excellence in the ITS industry. We encourage you to submit papers and/or sessions proposals for this year’s exciting event and look forward to seeing you in Charlotte!
