ITS America 2021 Annual Meeting Changing Date, Location

“Reimagining Transportation” to be Held in December in Charlotte

The Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), in partnership with Reed Exhibitions, today announced that its 2021 Annual Meeting will be held December 7-10 at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, NC.

The event, which brings together intelligent transportation community stakeholders from across the country, was previously scheduled for May 2021 in Atlanta. Given the current pandemic, ITS America and Reed Exhibitions made the decision to move it later in the year to best enable success with the in-person event.

“Safety is always our top priority, so this is a prudent move,” said ITS America President & CEO Shailen Bhatt. “We are looking forward to gathering in Charlotte – both the city and the state are deploying exciting technology advancements that exemplify the theme ‘Reimagining Transportation.’”

“We’re excited to produce our first ITS America Annual Meeting event, in close collaboration with the ITS America association and a roster of strong sponsors, government leaders and transportation technology experts. This date change – while maintaining a Southeast US location – will result in an impactful event in 2021 and set the tone for 2022,” said Will Wise, Group Vice President, Reed Exhibitions.

Earlier this year, North Carolina hosted the country’s first autonomous air taxi flight and the first emergency drone operation for a hospital pandemic response, with the North Carolina Department of Transportation delivering critical equipment and medical supplies in the Charlotte area. It was also first in the country to use drones to monitor flooding, road conditions and traffic impact after Hurricane Florence in 2018. And, on the rail line between Charlotte and Raleigh, infrared cameras help with tailoring safety efforts to prevent people from getting hit by trains.

ITS America 2021 will reimagine transportation and discuss how technology is a foundational piece of a new 21st century transportation system. It will bring together the intelligent transportation community for four days of thought-provoking education, networking, technical tours and demonstrations exploring products, emerging technologies and solutions that will enable a better future transformed by intelligent mobility. In addition, the event will incorporate a hybrid/virtual access component, which will include live streaming of keynotes and selected sessions to ensure parts of the Annual Meeting are available “remote-live.”
