Moving Towards Greener Mobility: Sustainability and Transportation Series Part 1

The transportation sector today contributes 28% of greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S. The deployment of technology holds promise to reduce our carbon footprint through electric and alternative fuel vehicles, decarbonization, and congestion reduction.  ITS America is holding a two-part series on Sustainability in the Transportation System to discuss the use of technology to increase sustainability in the context of passenger vehicles, freight movement, public transportation, charging infrastructure, advanced materials technologies, roadway management, and sustainable transportation research.

On November 19 from 1pm-2pm ET, ITS America hosted Part 1 of our Sustainability and Transportation series, presenting findings of its November 2020 ITS Insider Report, Moving Towards Greener Mobility: Sustainability and Transportation; lead a roundtable discussion highlighting approaches from key industry leaders to increasing sustainability in transportation; and introduce its new Standing Committee on Sustainability and Resiliency for 2021.

Part 1 of this series, focused on electric passenger vehicles, public transportation, charging infrastructure, roadway management, and sustainable transportation research. Part 2 will include a focus on freight movement, electrification of the transportation system, and other issue areas related to the sustainability of the transportation system.  Additional information on Part 2 of the series will be released as it becomes available.
