ITS America Statement on GM’s Exemption Request for Production and Deployment of Zero-Emission Autonomous Vehicles

Automated and connected vehicle technologies can reduce or eliminate the tragic loss of life that happens on U.S. roadways every day.

ITS America congratulates General Motors (GM) for its ongoing commitment to safety and innovation and supports its request to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to deploy Zero-Emission Autonomous Vehicles. (See ITS America comments to NHTSA here)

ITS America agrees with GM that granting this exemption would encourage auto industry development and introduction of zero-emission autonomous vehicles, enhancing sustainability. ITS America is committed to work with industry, regulators, infrastructure operators and safety advocates to build a foundation for the deployment of automated vehicles.
