“This is a great kick-off toward reauthorizing our nation’s surface transportation program. As ITS America noted in our recently-released technology blueprint, enacting policies that deploy intelligent transportation technologies will ensure a safer, greener, smarter system.

“For technology deployment to transform the transportation sector, it must be safe and reliable for all – and that can only happen with increased investment in cybersecurity, for which ITS America and our members have strongly advocated for a long time. As recent events have shown, these investments are essential to secure our infrastructure. In addition to providing for cybersecurity, the bill also expands opportunities for V2X technologies, including those that protect vulnerable road users, provides new opportunities for Mobility on Demand technologies, and includes necessary funding to build out electric vehicle infrastructure, including charging stations.

“We appreciate the Senate Environment and Public Works committee’s work and look forward to working with the other Senate and House committees throughout this process.”
